When do you begin accepting applications for September admission?

Enrollment is handled on a first come, first served basis beginning about February 1st. We will continue to test, interview and accept students until the classrooms are filled then a waiting list is formed. It is best to complete the application/enrollment process quickly to ensure a seat for your child.

Do you have to be a member of Bethany Church to apply?

No, however school families are encouraged to be active in a Bible teaching church. Bethany invites any of you who do not attend another church to worship with us.

What is your age limit for Kindergarten?

5 years of age by September 1st and testing indicates sufficient maturity.

Could I schedule a time to observe a classroom before I decide to apply?

Yes. Call the school office (626-962-7089) and we will coordinate a time that is convenient for you and the teacher.

Do all the forms have to be turned in at once?

Follow the steps listed on the application form. The application and all items listed in step 2 must be turned in at the same time.

What do I do if I can't find my copy of my child's immunization history?

Prior schools should have copies of immunization, or call your child’s doctor for a new immunization card.

If my child had a physical exam at 5 years old when his immunization booster shots were received does he need another exam now for 1st grade?

Probably not. Check the date of the exam and form. It needs to be on the “Report of Health Examination For School Entry” form. If it was given within 18 months prior to the September 1 admission to 1st grade it won’t have to be repeated. If the date is prior to the 18 month cut off, yes your child will need another physical exam.

When are the admissions tests given?

For grades K & 1st we schedule individual tests during and after school – dates and times vary.  For grades 2nd-8th bring a copy of your students most recent report card and state testing.

When will I know the test results?

The test results are discussed at the parent interview with the Principal

Why do I pay tuition from July thru May if school doesn't start until September?

Our tuition is an annual fee. We give parents the option to make payments if they prefer – the annual fee is then divided into 11 equal payments. Our payment plan runs July 1st – May 1st.

What money is due immediately?

The application fee is due when the completed application is returned to the office. The registration fee is due at the time of the parent meeting if the child is accepted for admission. Tuition is paid in 11 installments beginning in July.

What if you are a member of Bethany Church, do you get a discount?

Yes, active Bethany members receive a 5% discount.

If I recruit a child to attend WCCS, do I get a discount?

Yes. An incentive of $350 is good towards tuition for one child from your family if you are the person who recruits a new child who is not from a current or previous school family.

What time does school begin and end?

Kindergarten-8th Grade: 8:30am-3:00pm.

How early in the morning may I bring my child to school and not be charged for day care?

Children on campus before 8:15a.m. will be signed into day care. Likewise, children on campus after 3:15 p.m. will also be signed into day care for  your childs safty, we do not allow students to wait unsupervised in the parking lots either before or after school.

Do the junior high students change classrooms during the day?

Yes, the 6th-8th grade students move from class to class during the day.

Are all the children out for lunch at the same time?

Our children have staggered lunch periods . . . K – 2nd grades 11:30-12:10; 6th – 8th grades 12:00-12:40; 3rd – 5th grades 12:20-1:00.

What is your schedule for kindergartners?

The schedule for kindergartners emphasizes academic skills and enrichment activities. The day includes a morning snack, lunch break, and afternoon recess. It is a full-day program from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Day care is available before and after school day care from 6:30 am-8:30 am and 3:00 pm-6:00 pm for an additional cost.

Do you use Christian based textbooks in all grades?

In some of our subjects we use Christian based textbooks and Bible is taught at each grade level.

Are the elementary and junior high students on the same academic schedule?

Yes, all grades K-8 have 4 quarters and 2 semesters.

What are the basic subjects in junior high?

Bible, Math, English, History, Science, and P.E.

Do you have a special education program?

We do not have a special education program, however we do have an individualized learning center (ILC) which serves fourth through eighth grade students who need specialized academic help in an environment with a much smaller student to teacher ratio.  The ILC program has a slightly higher tuition fee.

Do you offer any computer classes?

Yes, we have a computer lab which our K – 8th teachers utilize with their classes.

Do you offer music classes to all students?

Grades K-6 have weekly choral music classes. Grades 7-8 have Choir/Drama as an elective class if they choose.  Our K – 8th students take part in 2 musicals each year, at Christmas and in the Spring.

Do you offer Instrumental music lessons?

Yes, we offer Private Instrumental music lessons including piano and a variety of other instruments. Lessons are available before, during, or after the school day. Payments for private lessons are made to the individual teachers.

Do you have a physical education department?

Yes, we have two Physical Education teachers, including an Athletic Director.

How often are the children in P.E. class?

7th and 8th grades have P.E. each day. Grades 1 -6 have P.E. 2 times a week.

Do all the children change clothes for P.E. class?

Children in grades 5-8 change into PE clothes in our locker rooms.

Do the children shower after P.E. class?

No, we do not have showers.

Where and when do we get P.E. clothes? And how much do they cost?

P.E. uniforms are sold at Class Processing Day and in the school office.  Students willthen receive their PE clothes from their PE teacher.

Does WCCS have sports teams that compete with other Christian schools?

Yes. We compete in  Varsity and Jr. Varsity Christian School Leagues.

Who is eligible to try out for these teams?

Students in grades 6-8 may try out for our sports teams.

Is there a cost for sports participation? What is it used for?

Yes, there is a sport participation fee due when the child is chosen for a Varsity or Junior Varsity team. Fees charged are used to pay referees, transportation, etc.

Do the children have chapel during the week?

Yes, every Wednesday morning Preschool – 8th grades participate in chapel services.

Do the children pray in the classroom?

Yes, it’s a privilege to pray with our students.

What Bible translation is used for the Scripture memory verses?

New International Version (NIV). Copies of this version will be available for purchase at Class Processing Day and in the school office.

Do you offer day care?

Yes. Our day care program is available to all enrolled students. Day care opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. Day care fees are listed on the Tuition Schedule.

Do you have special activities for the children in day care?

Day care offers organized games, playground equipment and study time in a safe and loving environment.

Is day care available on school holidays and during the summer months?

Day Care is not available on most Holidays. However, we do have a Summer Enrichment Program. See the school office for details.

Do you offer a hot lunch program?

Yes, students can either purchase a la carte lunches daily or pre-purchase lunches on a monthly basis.  Students can also purchase food before school and at recesses.
